Standard Form formwork plywood description
Standard Form Plywood is a multi-layer panel made from 13 cross-bonded acacia veneers, joined with waterproof melamine urea formaldehyde (MUF) glue. The outer surfaces are coated with a dark brown PSF phenolic film weighing 160 or 165 g/m², and the edges are protected with black waterproof paint. Compared to traditional poplar plywoods, it shows increased and even bending stiffness (40 MPa across, 35 MPa along the sheet), reducing unwanted deflection in slab formwork. Consistent manufacturing quality translates into fewer defects and better film adhesion.
The plywood lasts up to 8 use cycles – the actual number depends on storage and usage conditions. Before each use, the sheet should be coated with a release agent, and edges should be protected immediately after cutting with waterproof varnish or paint.
Applications of Standard Form Plywood
- external sheathing for wall and slab formwork,
- formwork for foundations, ring beams, lintels, and columns,
- single-family housing construction,
- projects with short execution cycles,
- structures requiring an aesthetic concrete finish.
